As technological disruption, ecological instability and political division reshape the world, the Tavistock Institute offers approaches and services that are systemic, psychologically informed and ethically grounded.
Our research, consulting and professional development teams work at the intersection of social science, psychoanalytic thinking and the arts to understand authority, leadership, group dynamics and organisational change.
We already have strong in-house capability in winning grants and proposals for our core research and consultancy work in the UK and Europe and we generate income from our highly successful Professional Development services.
We now want to diversify and strengthen our income through philanthropic and other funding sources, to enable us to strengthen our impact and to widen access to our professional development, research and consulting services.
What we need
We are seeking an experienced fundraising organisation or sole trader to work with our in-house team to research and action a new fundraising plan. We need your professional experience and expertise to prioritise, develop prospects and proposals, and win funds from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, individual giving campaigns, legacy giving and grant-making bodies.
Your compelling social impact and business cases and proposals will support our mission, bringing in funds from new sources to meet agreed targets.
Please note: This is a ‘doer’ role. We need a partner who will actively raise funds and diversify income, not simply provide advice or strategy documents.
Your characteristics
We are looking for a professional fundraiser (person or team) who can bring a proven track record of securing income.
Your experience should be directly relevant to the sectors we work in (consulting/social impact/research and training), and you need a strong understanding of our revenue model where we combine earned income with philanthropic funding.
We are looking for:
• Excellent bid writing skills;
• Relationship cultivation expertise;
• Strong awareness of inclusivity;
• Capacity building approach — while we want you to do the fundraising, we value approaches that would strengthen our organisational capabilities alongside delivery;
• Well-developed ethical and professional standards.
Your proposal to us
We would like a clear and comprehensive view of your understanding of our requirements, an explanation of your approach, your proposed methods and business plan, and how you would balance capacity building with delivery.
Please download the Invitation to Tender to learn more about what we ask for in your proposal.
