Continuing a partnership with Faber Maunsell, which developed an evaluation framework for making better use schemes in transport, this evaluation sees the application of the framework to the cycling cities and towns (CCTs).
In January 2008, the publication of DfT’s ‘A Sustainable Future for Cycling’ signaled a step change increase in Cycling England’s budget for the three year period from 2008/09 to 2010/11 from £30M to £140M. This benefits from a funding input from the Department of Health, who recognise the role that cycling could have in the government’s obesity strategy. The extra funding is being used to support a number of different initiatives with the 12 new Cycling Cities and Towns (CCTs) representing a major part of the investment.
