  • Leadership and Presence: find your natural authority

    Thu 30 April 10am
    — Fri 1 May 2026 5.30pm

This immersive, experiential workshop invites you to explore leadership through embodied practice, moving beyond theory to discover a more authentic presence and natural authority.

Leadership is not just about what you say - it’s about who you are and how you show up. Physical presence communicates as much as words. Accessing genuine embodied confidence and poise is so much more effective than performing what we think leadership “should” look like, or getting stuck in habitual ways of being that we are not aware of.

Through a unique integration of somatic practices, theory, role analysis and leadership development, you’ll learn to inhabit your role with more consciousness, responsiveness and genuine presence.

This is about walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

Who the workshop is for

For leaders, consultants and coaches. You may be in a leadership role, whatever your position in an organisation.

This workshop would be particularly valuable if you’re navigating increased authority or complexity, or if you work with presence-intensive modalities  like consulting, coaching, facilitation and organisational change.

The value

This workshop creates a low-stakes environment to try out new behaviours and you can practice in different ways, notice what lands and refine your approach.

Watching peers try something, receiving coaching in the moment and getting authentic reactions from the group, provides richer learning than individual study.

“If only we stop doing the wrong, the right will do itself”

FM Alexander

Integration of multiple disciplines

The combination of Alexander Technique, role analysis, voice work, yoga and organisational theory is unusually comprehensive. Each element addresses a different aspect of presence - awareness patterns, change and transitions, power dynamics, resistance/opposition, postural habits, breath support - creating a more complete approach than single-method training.

Addressing the unspoken

Much of leadership happens in non-verbal dimensions - how you hold tension, how you occupy space, whether people feel genuinely heard. These are rarely addressed in conventional leadership development but significantly impact your effectiveness.

Practical, applicable learning

Embodied, experiential practice means you’re developing skills that become instinctive rather than conceptual. Experiential learning captures something important - this isn’t just about adding more ideas/theories to your mental library, but about developing capacities you can access under pressure when analytical thinking isn’t available.

Experiential learning

Experiential learning is encoded differently in memory and becomes more accessible when under pressure, creating muscle memory and new neural pathways.  We remember perhaps about 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, but 80-90% of what we do and experience.

What you’ll practice

Throughout the 2 days in-person, you will explore with peers:

Use of Self as Instrument: Discover how your whole being body, mind and presence can become the primary tool for effective leadership and managing organisational change.

Alexander Technique: Apply this renowned method to leadership contexts, learn to release tension, expanding awareness and moving with intention through organisational life.

Body Language & Mapping: Understand the messages you and others communicate and develop awareness of the “you-in-the-mind” – and how others experience your presence.

Change & Transitions: Embody the capacity to lead through uncertainty.

Power & Status Relations: Navigate the more subtle dynamics of power and status with consciousness, understand how to use your position more ethically and effectively.

Resistance & Opposition: Work with, and channel these, as useful elements of transformation.

Voice work for impact and Embodied Listening: Connect breath support to vocal authority and practice the physicality of holding space for others to speak.

Conscious Awareness: Deepen capacity to observe your reactions and choose conscious responses rather than automatic patterns when facing multiple stimuli and challenges.

Presence and a Widening Field: Cultivate a grounded presence that can hold complexity and expand to include multiple perspectives.

Role Analysis: Use role analysis as a tracking tool to explore the impact of body language.

Yoga & Yoga Nidra: Integrate mindfulness and somatic practice to deepen self-awareness, release stress and access inner wisdom for leadership.

What a special and valuable experience. It was so inspiring. Looking forward to what will emerge from this!
