Human factors and the AI revolution: in-person leadership circle (London)

As more and more research indicates that it’s the human factors that make or break organisations’ ability to weather change and successfully work with AI-enabled technology, The Room is designed to equip leaders with thinking space and socio technical expertise, drawing on Tavistock learning about authority, leadership and change,

Today’s State of the Global Workplace Report (Gallup 2026) adds new data to a story of declining employee engagement worldwide. Employee engagement the psychological attachment people feel to their work, their team and their employer is a key measure of readiness for change. On top of the general decline that Gallup have measured since 2020, the sharpest drop in engagement is among managers and leaders, who also report significantly higher levels of stress, anger, loneliness and sadness than the people they lead (Gallup, 2026).

The Room is an in-person leadership circle launching in London this June, specifically to help senior executives to develop a clear, grounded position on human-AI leadership.

This is a special opportunity to address the human factors that underpin readiness to change and successful AI implementation. Grounded in organisational psychology and socio-technical systems thinking, participants will acquire the analytical frameworks and peer challenge to clarify their position on human-AI leadership.

“The real leadership question is not what AI can do, but how it shifts power and control – and whether your organisation has intentionally redesigned roles and accountability structures to match this. That redesign is a human systems challenge.”

Dr Annja Neumann, Principal STS Consultant at the Tavistock Institute and co-director of the programme

The Room: Human-AI Leadership Circle, run by the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in partmership with B-Centred, offers a small group of senior leaders five weekly evening sessions at the Institute’s offices in Clerkenwell. The programme, which is capped at ten participants, begins on 1 June 2026.
