In this talk, Yeshim will share insights from her work in high-stakes international disputes, where she has navigated complex interactions with people including former paramilitaries, combatants and guerrilla fighters.

Yeshim writes: These challenging environments taught me that universal principles for addressing complexity are applicable across sectors, communities and borders.

An apt analogy is the matryoshka doll: despite layered complexity, a unifying truth connects all. These experiences highlight universal truths that resonate in diverse contexts—from corporate boardrooms to personal relationships—emphasising our shared humanity.

This talk is for leaders who:

  • Are facing tensions among teams, partners, or stakeholders;
  • Want to facilitate dialogue and build consensus that drives collaboration and growth;
  • Seek to navigate transitions during significant change or expansion (domestic or international), while keeping teams aligned, and managing cultural and structural changes;
  • Value nurturing leadership potential within their organisations;
  • Strive to foster better communication, creating a culture of engagement and collaboration.

Key lessons

Drawing on seven key lessons, I will explore practical methods for understanding and managing conflicts, including mapping, navigating, managing and preventing crises, chaos and conflict.

High-stakes environments require clear, decisive, and highly practical approaches—every decision must be precise, effective, and grounded in reality, leaving no room for ambiguity or impracticality. These principles shape the unique perspective and strategies I bring to my work.

About Yeshim

Yeshim is a London-based specialist in organisational resilience and conflict prevention/resolution. With a background rooted in engagement in complex international disputes, Yeshim applies her expertise to corporate and organisational challenges, helping teams, partners, and stakeholders navigate tensions, transform conflicts into growth opportunities, and facilitate consensus in polarised environments.

What sets Yeshim apart is her ability to draw on lessons from her work in challenging conflict zones, including with former combatants and paramilitaries. This unconventional experience has equipped her with a unique perspective on dialogue, conflict resolution, and transformation, which she applies to a wide range of organisations in public and private sectors, and NGOs.

Partnered with the United Nations, Yeshim has led high-level initiatives involving businesses, political figures, and civic leaders, even in deeply entrenched, resistant contexts. Her diverse experience spans the UK, USA, European Union, Cyprus, Lebanon, South Africa, Colombia and Central Asia, working with clients such as the military, British Parliament, UNDP, UNAIDS, Manchester Airport Group, Kenyan Electoral Commission, Boeing and Accenture.

An MSc graduate, Yeshim holds a diploma in conflict resolution, and she is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Kent. She is an approved trainer with The Institute of Leadership and regularly provides consultancy to the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

A fun fact: Yeshim was first startled but then felt delighted to realise that the same techniques she used with high-level conflict parties also worked on her determined toddler (now 18) negotiating bed times and eating sweets before dinner.
