Dr Sadie King is Associate Principal Researcher/ Consultant at the Tavistock Institute following over two decades of collaboration.
Sadie was awarded her doctorate in anthropology from UCL in 2005 based on research on gender relations and urban youth subcultures in Nigeria. Since then, she has held a variety of roles with the TIHR and has strived to apply research and systems psychodynamics thinking to support a broad range of policy developments. These include: adoption support, human trafficking prevention, health and voluntary sector staff wellbeing, and the development of leadership and healthy team dynamics when working in complexity.
Sadie is a mixed methods and interdisciplinary consultant who has proven success combining arts-based interventions (such as poetry word harvest and sculpturing organisations workshops) with robust validated frameworks such as population Mental Wellbeing impact Assessments and Evaluation Rubrics.
Coproduction, transfer of skills and shared ownership of new knowledge underpin her approach to collaborations with professionals and communities.
Sadie has held many public sector roles in a range of policy, strategy, change and organisational development roles. These range from leading public consultations on adult social care services in Lewisham to recently leading the City and Hackney Neighbourhoods Programme. She is currently an Honorary Health Fellow at the University of East London where she collaborates with fellow researchers, the public sector and communities to bring about more equitable services and improve the wider determinants of health for all communities to thrive.
Sadie is an accredited executive (work) coach and supports people to clarify their goals and explore their strengths and challenges safely.
