Over the past ten years, four editions of the Social Dreaming International Network (SDiN) training programme have supported more than 60 professionals in developing their Social Dreaming practice across a range of settings, while fostering an international community of practice through continued learning, collaboration and new projects.
Building on this experience, SDiN now introduces a redesigned international Training Series for 2027–2028.
Structured in three progressive modules, the programme brings together Matrix hosting and sense-making, project design and delivery, applied research and supervision, with a continuing focus on role awareness and professional practice.
Participants may complete the full series or enrol in individual modules, with direct entry to Modules 2 and 3 available to suitably experienced applicants.
Training outline
The Training Series combines theoretical input, experiential learning and supervised practice. Participants learn through Social Dreaming Matrices, hosting and observation, project work, individual and group reflection, and supervision with experienced practitioners.
150 contact hours + up to 150 hours of independent study and fieldwork
The programme develops through three modules:
Module 1 | Foundations of Social Dreaming
Matrix Hosting and Sense-Making
Module 2 | Social Dreaming Projects
Planning, Delivery and Review
Module 3 | Social Dreaming as Research
Design, Fieldwork and Analysis
Learning develops progressively across the series, from establishing and hosting a Matrix, through designing and delivering a supervised Social Dreaming project, to exploring Social Dreaming as a method of applied and action research.
Participants learn within an international network, bringing together different professional, cultural and geographical perspectives. Mutual support, shared reflection and collaboration are integral to the experience, contributing to a learning community that can continue beyond the formal training.
The programme will take place mainly online. The three-day Module 1 seminar for the Europe stream will be held in person at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in London, while the corresponding Asia–Australia seminar will take place online. All other seminars, Matrices and supervision sessions will be held via Zoom.
The Training Series begins on 14 March 2027.
Who is this training for?
The training is for professionals wishing to deepen their understanding and practice of Social Dreaming. It is particularly relevant to fields including organisational consultancy, management, education, healthcare and wellbeing, psychotherapy, community work, research and the arts.
Enrolment
Completing all three modules is the recommended pathway, allowing learning to develop progressively across the programme. Individual module enrolment is also available, subject to availability. Direct entry to Module 2 or Module 3 is subject to individual assessment against the relevant entry requirements.
