Come and join us as an apprentice!
Our apprenticeship programme is now in its seventh year, and we are looking for the next apprentice to join us!
The Tavistock Institutes apprentice programme was set up in 2012 and was designed for school and college leavers who haven’t yet decided about university and want to gain experience in the field of social science. The programme evolves every year, and allows the apprentice to influence the shape of the programme and the role, this year more than ever.
As an organisation, the Tavistock Institute is a social science research and evaluation organisation with the core purpose of improving society. The range of tasks, clients and sectors we engage with is wide, which makes it difficult to sum up the organisation in one sentence. In practice it means there is always something new and interesting going on if you want to get involved. Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will work with many aspects of our organisation, focussing mainly on our professional development courses and research work in an administrative capacity. You will also hold general office administrative responsibilities, joining the team who help our office run on a day to day basis.
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to study with the Open University. Starting with an access module, then a Certificate of Higher Education on a course of your choice (but related to the work of the Institute) which will take two years to complete and is worth 120 credits at degree level. Open University Courses are self-study, but you will be assisted by an internal Learning Mentor to help guide you through the course.
We are committed to our apprentices and offer support to ensure they are getting the most out of their workplace experience. Namely the opportunity to be mentored by a colleague which is a space for the apprentice to openly discuss any problems they are facing and to be offered advice and guidance.
