This Conference is organised by Group Relations Kazakhstan with the Tavistock Institute.

Venue: Narxoz Business School

Purpose of the conference

Throughout your life, you have been in a variety of groups, whether it be a family or other groups, as well as organizations in which you may be a manager, leader, or in any other role, or you may provide coaching, counseling, and other similar services to individuals, groups, or organizations.

The aim of the conference is to provide participants with the opportunity to explore, understand and learn how to identify the conscious and unconscious processes that take place in groups and to begin to apply this knowledge in teams and organizations.

About this conference

We use accelerated immersive learning.

This conference is radically different from any other leadership development seminars and trainings. The difference is that participants do not just receive information about any tools or methods, but learn from their own experience.

For the training period (4 days), participants create a “temporary organization” and constantly explore the dynamics of what is happening “here and now”, monitoring the influence that emotions and unconscious reactions have on it.

In the course of training, the group will have the opportunity to understand its own emotional manifestations and become aware of the hidden group processes that arise here and now.

As a result, participants will be able to look differently at the dynamics in groups and organizations. Going forward, by applying this experience to their work and daily lives, participants will be able to expand and deepen their abilities to manage and lead teams, exercise their leadership skills, continue to explore their relationships with managers, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teams and organizations as a whole.

What is special about this conference?

From birth, we are all members of various groups and are constantly influenced by their processes of leadership, division of authority and their very nature - which is why it is extremely important to understand group processes, our role in them and how they affect us.

People tend to think that their decisions and behavior are determined by rational, conscious, and transparent motives. This is especially true in a work environment where we put a lot of effort into clearly defining goals, roles and responsibilities and organizing all processes to ensure effective work.

Unfortunately, the result of our efforts often falls short of expectations.

Quite often we encounter the following phenomena:

01

Overlooked group dynamics

02

Hidden assumptions and roles

03

Behavior under uncertainty

04

Emotional and unconscious group forces

05

Destructive Groupthinking

Conference Program Summary

Small group sessions: focus on tight-knit team dynamics (like project teams or boards).

Large group sessions: explore dynamics in larger assemblies where close interpersonal connection is reduced.

Intergroup sessions: Study power, representation, delegation as groups interact.

Evening reflection sessions each day to process learning.
