We are happy to hear that the ESRC’s new Centre for the Evaluation of Complexity Across the Nexus (CECAN) is to be launched on 1st March 2016.
Led by a consortium of leading national bodies, this new national research hub will be developing new ways to measure the effectiveness of domestic policies on energy, water, environment and food (the ‘nexus’), and how they affect wider society.
We (at the Tavistock Institute) have been actively supporting the consortium, led by the University of Surrey, throughout the development of plans for the centre, and hope also to be able to take an active role in its activities in the future. We see this, both as an exciting opportunity to contribute to development of this field of enquiry, and a way of enhancing our own evaluation practice through engaging in a community of other academics and practitioners exploring the challenges of evaluation in complex fields.
