- What is developmental evaluation?
This is a process of evaluating interventions or changes in real-time, as things unfold.
We do this because complex initiatives don't wait for neat endpoints and often we need to adapt and learn as we go along.
- How can evaluation be carried out in real-time?
To facilitate learning and reflection, we gather evidence using rigorous data collection methods, to tell us how the intervention or policy under review is affecting different stakeholders in the system under evaluation.
The evidence is used to support adaptive decision-making through iterative inquiry.
This enables innovations to evolve intelligently as contexts shift and insights surface.
Developmental evaluation is part of the innovation process, not a judgement delivered afterwards.
We have conducted developmental evaluations with international social change organisations, the EU clothing industry and with children’s service organisations, amongst many others.
