Bed is a street theatre event devised and performed by members of Entelechy’s Elders Performance Company highlighting stories of loneliness and isolation that affect many of their peers.
“This is powerful, challenging theatre that often produces strong feelings in the people who stop. In using theatre to bring some of our loneliest and most vulnerable fellow-citizens into the centre of urban life, ‘Bed’ makes transformative connections between people.”
François Matarasso, Tandem Exchange conference in Berlin in September 2016
“At our age we take risks. All of us are on tablets or pills or injections: anything could happen but we take the risk.We belong to this body of trust, like sisters to each other. Sometimes you’ve got to take risks for the unknown”
Gwen Sewell, Company member.
The performances took place in the Swiss Church.

Entelechy Arts is based in Lewisham, south east London. The company works with isolated older people and adults who have profound and complex disabilities to place the arts at the heart of a process striving to achieve more equal, connected and engaged communities.Entelechy believes that creativity has a central role to play in re-imagining civic connections between historically marginalised individuals and groups. Participation in the arts enables people to feel present, alive and engaged with their world and with the worlds of others. Entelechy’s work creates new contexts and purpose to increase points of connection and engagement, building relationships across generations, across cultures and across abilities.[x_image type=“none” float=“none” src=“http://tavistock-festival:8888/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/LH-Garden-Party_44_Entelechy-ARts-Bed-1500px.jpg” info=“none” info_place=“bottom” info_trigger=“hover”]Entelechy Arts,
