This project involves the Tavistock Institute working with LACORS to help the organisation to:
- Lead a debate about the future of regulation at a local level;
- Identify issues for councils and their partners to consider in improving the performance of their regulatory functions and preparing to meet the challenge of the next ten years;
- Inform the development by LACORS of a programme to support and drive improvement in local regulatory services as part of the wider local government improvement agenda.
The Institute has worked with LACORS in a number of ways to deliver this project, including visiting a number of local councils to gather data, a futures event to look at likely changes in society over the next 10 years and the impact of these changes on regulatory services and a case event to seek to understand the issues that local councils face and what LACORS can do to support them.
