Camilla Child

Independent consultant

Camilla Child is an independent Organisational Development Consultant and Executive and Team Coach and Supervisor. She also designs and facilitates leadership and professional development programmes. Her clients are mainly drawn from across public sector organisations and boards, and she also coaches and supervises private sector clients. She has worked in the UK and internationally.

Honed over more than 30 years, many of which were spent at the Tavistock Institute, her practice is grounded in theory, building on her original discipline of political science with traditional Tavistock Institute approaches such as socio-technical systems thinking and the psychodynamics of systems.

Camilla has an unparalleled understanding of organisational structures and systems and the human dynamics and behaviours that accompany them and the challenges they bring. She is known for her ability to create spaces for individuals, groups and partnerships that foster both learning and change, enabling the creation of positive and dynamic cultures and meaningful transformation. She also works with her clients to develop strategic recommendations and integrate them with operational realities to drive sustainable change. She enjoys supporting complex partnerships where differential power relations and issues of sovereignty are at play and has a keen interest in governance.

At the Tavistock Institute Camilla initially worked extensively on small- and large-scale evaluations of public programmes across the UK and Europe. A decade later she added formal training in organisational development to this foundation, so that her offer combines critical and analytical skills with her repertoire of participatory, engaged, experiential learning methods. Camilla has an MSc in Social Policy and an MA in Organisational Consultancy, and Certificates in Conflict Resolution, and in the Supervision of Coaches and Teams.
