Online Group Relations Conference within a Learning Pathway into Group Relations Work
Message from the Conference Director
Dear Prospective Member,
Inhabiting the Unknown: Authority, Leadership and Learning at the Edge arrives at a moment when many of us are navigating deep uncertainty in our organisations, our roles, and the systems we are part of.
What makes this conference distinctive is a structured learning arc that extends beyond the four days of the conference itself.
The Pre-Conference Component (22-23 August 2026) introduces the conceptual foundations of this way of working, including the systems psychodynamic tradition and the logic of role, boundary and authority. It is valuable whether you are new to Group Relations or returning with prior experience.
The Conference (3-6 September 2026) is shaped by who is present. Each event is a new temporary organisation, formed by the particular people, dynamics and tensions that emerge in that moment. Returning members will find that prior experience does not repeat itself. The invitation is to engage with how you take up your role, and what becomes possible when you do so with greater awareness.
The Post-Conference Component (10-11 October 2026) consolidates the experience and extends it. Members explore small group dynamics and consultation in depth, building practical skills for working with complexity. Those who have participated in two or more group relations conferences, will have opportunities to explore the consultant role, and deepen their practice and understanding.
You may join the main conference alone, or take any combination of components that suits your learning.
We have chosen to hold the conference online. This is because the online setting reflects how much of our working and relational life now takes place at a distance, and the conference is built to bring genuine depth to that mode of engagement. Members are welcome to join from anywhere in the world.
We look forward to welcoming you to this shared exploration.
