Leah Ashton-Hurst

BSc (Hons) Criminology and Sociology
Operations & People Manager

My work at the Institute involves providing dynamic and nuanced support to colleagues on several internal and external projects to ensure the continued development and smooth running of the organisation.

I am relatively new to the Institute, having joined in October 2021, and I am exploring how the organisation’s values can be woven into my day-to-day life as Operations Manager and People Coordinator. Since joining, I have had my first taste of the world of Group Relations, a cornerstone of the Institute’s work, and have been part of the Leicester Conference staff team in 2022 and 2023. I also recently joined the Management and Administrative Team of the Belgirate conference, a meeting for Group Relations practitioners.

I have also undertaken a key role in the Institute’s Environment Group, shaping our sustainability practices operationally and working collaboratively with a smaller sub-group to attain ISO accreditation for environmental management. No two days are the same here at the Tavistock Institute, and my passion for problem-solving and organisation help in navigating this path (along with encouragement from my four-legged companion, Cwtch the Cockapoo, who often frequents the office sofa).
