I am a multilingual, mixed-methods researcher with an international background.

Experience

With a Joint MA in Women’s and Gender Studies and a BA (Hons.) in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, my experience is international in scope and has been informed by sociology, anthropology and cultural studies. My research to date has involved exploring the intersections of race, class and gender with an emphasis on women’s (in)equality. I have also researched prison systems, civil and political rights, digital exclusion, precarious work, fracking and other environmental issues, and mental health.

Interests

Living and working across five continents has given me a broad perspective that I enjoy bringing to all my research. Thematically, I have a keen research interest in gender and sexuality, migration, and disadvantaged communities, as well as socio-political issues more generally. I am also interested in popular culture and how it relates to other facets of society. My experience in communications and service delivery has also left me with enthusiasm for delivering grounded research outputs that have a real impact on practice.

Approach

I am well-versed in qualitative methodologies, including ethnography, interviews, literature reviews, and case studies. I also have statistical training and I have conducted mixed-methods research. I am particularly interested in innovative methodologies, most recently combining psychological and sociological understandings of grief through the use of photography in my MA dissertation (90%). Ethics are important to my research, and I enjoy integrating new approaches into my work.
